Wait, what? Where are you living that WDST is your local station?? I'm all confused now. That was MY local station growing up. I'm from Rhinebeck!

I live in the Berkshires. (Though I almost compulsively feel the need to note that I am not from here.) When I say "local," I mean, "actually comes in occasionally," since up here in the mountains that can be sporadic. So I get a lot of Hudson/Albany stations. I did know you were from Rhinebeck, we sometimes zip over there to see scenery very similar to where we live but somehow more novel since it is an hour or so away. You know how that goes.

You live in the Birkshires AND you are employed? ...and stylish? What do you know, it is possible...hmmmph.

I cannot WAIT to get out of this city, I tell you. It's so encouraging to know that I'm not going to get eaten by caribou, homeless, while wearing something from Caldors.

I don't know, you might get eaten. But probably by crazed rednecks and not caribou.

You are not thinking of, like, removing yourself to Western Mass are you? Because I cannot discourage you enough, young lady! It is only through sheer force of will that I am able to keep up my designer shopping obsession. The jobs are totally nonexistent -- the only reason we are still here is the Husband Unit who is a writer and his office is nearby. I drive an hour to work every day in (shudder) Albany. It is no good.

And if anyone tries to tell you that Northampton-Amherst is a reasonable alternative, as my man Flava Flav says, DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!

This place kills me a little more every day. Gentle readers, do not come here, like, ever. You might get trapped like I did and spend every day trying to resist the urge to stab people in the Taco Bell parking lot.
