What has made my Labor Day weekend so far:
* Finally seeing 13 Going on 30, which I loved with a deep, firey passion, as expected. Oh my GOD, I almost fainted at least 3 times during the movie, just from love. It was, like, tailor-made to achieve all of my movie needs: Sydney Bristow looking happy for a change, a beauty shot of a floor-to-ceiling shoe closet, a dance sequence to "Love Is a Battlefield" (the original video is on the extras reel!), Mark Ruffalo...oh yeah, good stuff.
* The premiere of the new "Surreal Life" (mock me if you must), starring none other than the guy who made Alanis lose her shit and the least intellectual of the New Kids on the Block. And Flava-Flav! Completely rad, especially because I totally love Charo in a non-ironic way!
You see, kids, up here in the Berkshires, we have to spend all holiday weekends cowering in our homes for fear of being assaulted by the harsh accents and condescending bourgeois attitude of our tourist invaders from Long Island and its surrounding climes. (If you have ever wondered, folks, the people who live where you vacation? Loathe you. Once we all know and accept that, I predict world peace!) So I have another 24 hours until they go home, and we also rented Shaolin Soccer and The Barbarian Invasions, woo!
Have a happy Labor Day, and don't forget to hug a union member for getting you the day off in the first place!
