Why is it that the day before Thanksgiving is so rife with petty annoyances? Traffic, work-related things, the inexplicable increase of banal neo-con "give thanks for America/guns/homophobia!" forwarded emails and op-eds...why? To remind me of how psyched I am to have 2 days to hide out at the Pink Fortress, away from all these crazies? Well, actually, that makes sense, let's go with that.
Happy Thanksgiving all you out there in internets-land. It's actually my favorite holiday due to the unbeatable combination of binge eating and football, but the family/friends aspect is quite good too. I know I often put together a thankfulness list around this time, so, here's a quickie for 2007:
Family & friends; text messaging; Kleenex with lotion; 30 Rock; red lipstick; Mark Helprin (speaking of neo-cons, right?); wrap dresses; Rilo Kiley; Moulton Brown body lotion; the mid-century modern aesthetic; seltzer water; Memphis, TN; so very much coffee; Paul Krugman; the labor movement; Kanye West; my Fluevog Giulia boots; the revival and ongoing acceptance of almost-black nailpolish; Koigu KPPM & KPPPM; diners; The Golden Compass book & movie; feminism; Twitter; black or gray sweaters for every day of the week; girly road trips; calculators; public education; Chie Mihara; my mechanic; and the beach.
XOXO, dearies. Have a de-lovely Turkey Day!
